On Sunday, March 23rd, two new officers were elected at St. Mark. Marc Hays was elected to the office of Ruling Elder, and Brian McLain to the office of Deacon. We are very thankful for the Lord’s provision for our congregation in this regard, and are looking forward to their ordination and installation on April 6th.
Eric Parker makes some great points here: http://millennialpastor.net/2014/03/03/praise-bands-are-the-new-medieval-priests/
A couple of favorite quotes:
“Praise Bands are incompatible with a worship that is done by the community. Rock Bands are by design meant to overwhelm the audience with sound. They are a performative medium, not a participatory one.”
“Liturgical worship has stood the test of time, it has been around for 2000 years. You can see our liturgical roots in the writings of the early Christian church. Liturgical worship will remain as long as Christ’s church does. I don’t know if the same can be said for Praise Bands.”
As you may have noticed, things are looking a bit different around here. We’re revamping the web site to a more up-to-date and mobile-friendly design.
Please be patient as we “connect the dots” with our content. Hopefully, you won’t find anything broken, but we’re still in process.
